Short biography of
the Parisian
singer Clémence: Clémence was born in 1988 (on November, 29th) in Neuilly Sur Seine ( Paris ). She is the youngest child of four daughters. Between her father, Saint-Preux, a composer, and her mother, an author and a painter, she has always evolved in an artistic environment. She earlier shows a particular gift for music and singing. She can also play the piano, the guitar and has dancing and drama lessons. Besides, she learns Chinese. When she was 12, Clémence met Johnny Hallyday, one of France’s greatest singers. Amazed by her voice, he recorded a song called “On a tous besoin d’amour with her” (J.P. Dréau / Saint-Preux), which was rated among the top of sales for many weeks and was “Gold Disc” several times. In 2005, she interpreted with Jean-Baptiste Maunier, the young main actor of the film “Les Choristes” , the mythical “Concerto pour une voix”, her father’s early work, which was renamed for this occasion : “Concerto pour deux voix”. Welcomed by the public with a huge enthusiasm, the title will be also ranked among the best sales for several weeks. The same year 2005, Clémence released her first solo single “Sans Défense”, (G.Jouin / Ch.Holl), which turned her into a confirmed artist. In 2006, a new single “La vie comme elle vient” (Ch.Hauser) was a great success as well. The year 2007 will be the year when Clemence’s first album called “Mes Jours” comes out. It is made up of 14 exciting and sensual songs, in which Clémence sings with elegance, freshness and lightness. She wanted it to be built like a personal diary, full of secrets and dreams mingled with love and passion. This album is like her. It is both fragile and strong and alternately bashful and provocative. The several included musical styles that she is particularly fond of, give a colourful and sometimes exotic atmosphere with eclecticism and originality. She particularly chose some of the sounds and she used a cult guitar from the 60's to make it. The result is magic : a timeless and inspired album with a plethora of feelings and emotions that emerge from it. Clémence felicitously signs the lyrics of three titles and chose other authors and composers who are her favourites, mainly Christophe Hauser who worked for the major part of the album. She looks upon him as one of the most talented today’s authors. In tradition of very famous romantic songs, the title "Où es-tu" shows that Clémence is regarded as a wonderful artist. This song is written by Michèle Gaude and Christian Holl and reminds us of the great “standards” of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Céline Dion.
